Cogeneration systems can produce two or more useful energies (electricity and heat) from a single energy source (fuel). Depending on the motor type, the system can be divided into gas turbines, gas/diesel engines, steam turbine cogeneration systems and combined generation systems.
  - Reduce air pollution by improving energy efficiency.
  - Deal with the unbalance between electricity and heat during summer and winter seasons.
  - Save energy and cost by using a high efficiency energy system.
  - Expand distribution of high efficiency energy equipment.
  - Possible to select suitable fuel for given conditions.
  - Ensures high reliability based on vast experiences in design and manufacturing of the components of generation
    facilities.
  - Established an engineering system, installation and commissioning technology through R&D activities.
  - Compact structure enabling easy installation and maintenance.
  - Various options, such as remote monitoring & controlling devices, heat/electricity ratio controlling device, etc.
  - Minimized installation area by optimizing waste heat recovery facility and system.
Useful waste heat discharged from production processes is recovered by a waste heat recovery boiler to produce high temperature and high pressure steam. This system also produces electricity by driving a steam turbine with the produced steam. This system is usually applicable to incinerators, cement plants and steel making facilities.
When high temperature/pressure steam produced by a boiler is reduced to low pressure necessary for a process, a steam turbine is used instead of a pressure-reducing valve to use the steam with the proper pressure and to produce electricity as well.
Harmful methane gas generated during treatment of daily waste, livestock waste and sewage, is used to generate electricity, steam and hot water, and the by-products are treated separately.
Harmful methane gas generated from a landfill site is used to generate electricity, steam and hot water. The conditions for facilities can vary depending on the size and situation of a landfill, and the configuration of the gas pre-treatment facility is one of the important technologies.
It is a kind of a cogeneration system which generates electricity using a gas turbine, generates steam by using the exhaust gas in a waste heat recovery boiler and sends the steam to a steam turbine to produce electricity; and the discharged steam is used for processes or a cooling & heating system.
Hyosung also has design and installation capabilities in such areas as a gas turbine cogeneration package, gas engine cogeneration package and steam turbine cogeneration.
